Summary of Beliefs
As a congregation of the Free Reformed Churches of North America we fully subscribe to the three historic Reformed confessions. Our “confessions” are summaries of Scripture: concise, accurate overviews of what is written in God’s Word, the Bible. They do not supersede the Bible, but help in understanding what it teaches:
The Heidelberg Catechism
The Canons of Dortrecht
The Belgic Confession of Faith
While these may seem like cryptic names, they help describe the nature and history of these documents. “Heidelberg,” “Dordrecht,” and “Belgic” refer to cities or regions to which these documents are connected. Catechisms, Canons and Confessions, are titles of documents used for teaching.
In addition, we also fully subscribe to the three general, universal creeds: The Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed.
